Postpartum Doula Service
Mothering the mother
There was once a time when families stayed near their relatives and there was a way, that when a couple began their own family someone was there to help them transition to the new role of parent. Now that we have moved away from that kind of culture and moved away from our family of origin, we are left to figure it out on our own. The first few days and weeks after birth can be difficult and scary at times. That’s what a postpartum doula is for. She is there to do the things an extended family would do, wash dishes, cook meals, play with older siblings, do the wash, all so you have time to bond with your new little one. She will also help with breastfeeding issues and bonding. When a family is mothered, they can comfortably and capably parent their newborn. That is the job of a postpartum doula, to mother the mother.
